Halo: Campaign Evolved Split-Screen Setup

Start a local campaign

Use a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S with two controllers and two supported signed-in profiles.

1. Launch the game with the first profile and enter the campaign lobby.
2. Connect the second controller.
3. Sign the second player into a supported platform account rather than a guest profile.
4. Join the lobby with the second controller, choose the campaign mission, and confirm both players appear before launch.

What local play requires

Halo Support says local split-screen does not require Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. Online features may have separate platform requirements. PC does not support split-screen.

1. Keep both profiles signed in for progression tracking.
2. Check display safe-area settings if HUD text is clipped.
3. Use a larger UI or subtitle setting when available for a shared screen.

Fix a missing second player

If the join prompt does not appear, verify the second controller and account before changing campaign settings.

1. Reconnect the second controller and confirm it works in the console menu.
2. Sign out any guest profile and use a supported account.
3. Restart the campaign lobby after both profiles are signed in.
4. Install pending game and console updates.

Continue with online friends

A local pair can use the online co-op flow when joining a wider fireteam. Link the required Microsoft accounts, use Xbox Gamertags, and follow the leader-progress rules described in the co-op guide.
