Halo: Campaign Evolved Offline Play Guide
Prepare the installed game, signed-in profiles, and a tested save before disconnecting; online crossplay and cloud sync will be unavailable.
Offline behavior can vary by platform license and storefront. Test the exact console or PC account before travel, and do not rely on cloud-only checkpoints or last-minute account linking.

Prepare before disconnecting
Store licenses and account states differ, so verify the exact device and profile you will use.
- Finish installation and all pending updates.
- Launch the game while online with the intended platform profile.
- Open Campaign and create or load a local save.
- For console split-screen, sign in both supported accounts and test both controllers.
- Disconnect the network and relaunch once as a real test.
Know what goes offline
Crossplay, online fireteams, account refreshes, and cloud progression synchronization require a connection. Local console split-screen may remain available, but test your license and account configuration beforehand.
Protect progression
Finish a mission or reach a rally point before changing devices. Mid-mission checkpoints and exact position do not sync, even after you reconnect.
- Exit cleanly after a durable save point.
- Reconnect on the original device and allow sync to complete.
- Confirm the same Xbox Gamertag before continuing elsewhere.
Travel checklist
Keep sufficient storage headroom, power accessories, controller batteries, and any required platform offline-device setting ready. Store support pages remain the authority for license behavior.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use crossplay offline?
No. Crossplay and online co-op require network services.
Can I use console split-screen offline?
Prepare and test it on your own PS5 or Xbox before disconnecting because account and license configuration can vary.
Will a mid-mission checkpoint move to another device later?
No. Mid-mission checkpoints and exact position are not part of synced cross-progression.
